Recognising the vital role or the VCS following the Grenfell Tower tragedy and other emergencies, the Government is seeking views on proposals to improve how Category 1 responders (like local authorities, emergency services, and the NHS) collaborate with voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations during emergencies.
The Government aims to formalise and strengthen these partnerships under the Civil Contingencies Act of 2004, ensuring that VCS groups are better integrated into emergency planning, response, and recovery efforts.
