Financially at-risk councils cutting funding to charities

The Directory of Social Change (DSC) found that UK councils’ grant spending with voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations decreased by around 10% in 2023-24.

£32.5 billion worth of volunteering hours going unused

New research by Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR), commissioned by national charity Royal Voluntary Service, found that nearly two-thirds (62%) of businesses say they offer volunteering days, yet 140 million hours went unused in the last 12 months, as many struggle to find the right opportunities.
